Feeling down, stuck, frustrated, tired, overwhelmed?
Change your scenery!
It’s a very simple concept that can be super powerful. It can be done for any amount of time and can be a little change or a big change.
When I was going through a divorce and trying to rebuild my life, I decided it was time to do something drastic to get myself headed in a new direction. I had always lived and spent time in the suburbs or rural areas, so I started to explore the city. Every Sunday morning, I would hop in my car and drive to the closest city, Lancaster, PA…it was calling to me in a strange way, but I really didn’t know much about it. Sundays worked because it was a quiet time to explore an urban area. I would drive around, hit up a church service if so inspired, and would take in the city feel. Sometimes I would park and walk the city to get the feel of the sidewalks under my feet, the sounds of the neighborhood, enjoy looking at the architecture and catch the vibe. It was so different than what I was used to and that was just what I needed at that time. Eventually, I bought a city home and became a city girl for the next six years. It helped me reinvent myself and see things from different perspectives. I think back on it and know that it helped me survive tough times and helped me redirect myself and my vibrational frequency.
There are so many quick changes you can make to your scenery without moving to a new area or finding a new job, although sometimes the bigger changes are necessary. Here are some examples of other scenery changes that have helped me find a different vibe fast:
*DRIVE – I don’t recommend driving when you are angry, but getting in a car and leaving an area that is causing you stress or negativity can definitely help you reset.
*walk/run – Before I was old enough to drive, taking a run or walk would help me get out of my mode – and the cardio is definitely a good way to release stress hormones.
*anywhere in nature – go to a park, catch a sunset, stare at the night sky, go to the beach if you are lucky enough to live close by.
*during COVID, I realized that just going to a different room in my house could make a difference.
You get the idea…now, if you don’t find a good option, close your eyes and visualize a change of scenery. Meditate into the beach, listen to the sounds of the ocean in your head (or a meditation app). This can do wonders too.
If you find scenery that really helps you, take a picture and put it on your wall for quick flashbacks!
You are not stuck anywhere…you have the power to change your vibe!
